Once the lab has analysed your blood sample and a clinician has reviewed your blood test results, you’ll be sent your results via email. These will consist of a set of measurements around key biomarkers such as your testosterone (and other male hormone levels), which are important health indicators that can be related to erectile dysfunction. The clinician will also give you feedback based on the outcome of your test. This will allow you to understand your health on a deeper level and help you make informed lifestyle choices that can benefit your health and wellbeing.
If you’re older, there’s probably a physical reason for your ED. But the causes can be in your head, too. Experts say stress, depression, low self-esteem, and performance anxiety can short-circuit the process that leads to an erection. These factors can also make the problem worse if your ED stems from a physical problem.
Compared to aerobic exercise like jumping on a treadmill, performing pelvic floor muscle exercises are super discreet. In fact, the pelvic floor muscles aren't visible — but you'll feel them!

Your GP may help you to complete a symptom questionnaire. The most commonly used are the International Index of Erectile Function and the Sexual Health Inventory for Men. Malleable implants usually consist of paired rods, inserted surgically into each of the corpora cavernosa. The rods are stiff, and to have an erection, one bends them up and then when finished with intercourse one bends them down. They do not change in length or width. The malleable implants are the least mechanical and thus have the lowest risk of malfunction. However, also have the least "normal appearance."
Pilates is a group of exercises designed to strengthen your body core. Although there are many potential exercises, here are two sample ones that focus on the pelvic floor. Lie down with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Rest your arms at your side. Attempt to flex your hips to press your lower back into the ground. Hold this position for 3 to 5 seconds. Repeat the exercise slowly, 10 times, or as able. Be in the same position as for the pelvic tilt. Press your lower back on the floor. Slowly rotate one knee to one side while keeping your feet flat. Return your knees to the midline. Repeat this exercise slowly 10 times. Aerobics

While its true medications can help improve blood flow and hormone levels, dietary changes and simple exercises can also help improve erectile function by supporting overall cardiovascular health. That being said, your first step should be to contact your doctor in order to determine the cause of your E.D. symptoms. In some men, E.D. is an early warning sign of cardiovascular disease.
In a study that enrolled 25,906 men, men who consumed foods rich in flavonoids were less likely to report E.D. Flavonoids improve blood vessel function while lowering blood pressure. They have anti-inflammatory properties as well as the ability to modulate nitric oxide levels. When E.D. is caused by inadequate blood flow into the penis, reducing inflammation and dilating blood vessels is likely to help (Cassidy et al., 2016).
The nerves that control an erection lie very close to the prostate. These nerves may be injured during treatment. If the surgeon uses nerve-sparing procedures, some men may regain their previous level of erectile function. This typically takes a year or two.
The pathogenesis of organic ED is related to dysfunction of the endothelium. Endothelial cells can become injured through a variety of mechanisms, most of which cause oxidative stress on the tissues. Many of these causes of oxidative stress are related to lifestyle issues which lead to hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidaemia (figure 1). Endothelial cell dysfunction results in reduction of endothelium-dependent vasorelaxation as well as increased adhesion of leukocytes to the endothelium. Endothelial cell injury then leads to a variety of sequelae, including ED, other types of vasoconstriction, atherosclerosis and thrombus formation.18
In addition, your doctor may address underlying conditions. They may suggest counseling or medication changes. They also may suggest lifestyle changes, including increased exercise or dietary changes. It is also a good idea to avoid drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes. Erectile dysfunction may have a significant impact on both patients and their relationships. It therefore is important to seek appropriate help and support, both from GPs and from other organisations, such as Relate.
